Drop Everything T-Shirt – Black, S

These sorts of folks think they’re more important than you. Know how we know that? No matter what you’re doing (which was saving the world, BTW, not that they asked), it’s less important than whatever they need you to do. Am I right? Printers. Networking. Even proofreading. Whatever it is, the world will end if you don’t fix it for them. Right. Now. Whatever you’re doing can wait. Never mind that the stars only align like this once every 172 years. There’s a fax machine broken…

Geek Notebook

Geek is My Other Name Note BookAll I’d need is a nickel for each time I’ve been asked a techie question at work. “How do I…..?” or “Can you fix…..?” are among the more common questions asked each day. Sometimes I can explain how I know something and other times it’s pure dumb luck that I’ve run into something close and know how to do it whatever “it” might be! Some days I am fixing networked printers and other days I’m troubleshooting software and formatting issues or even Windows proper. It depends on my day as to what I’m asked to fix.

French Quarter Pens

I finally found a pen I love and will not loose… well almost never loose. I was given a peweter dragon pen from French Quarter Pens a couple years ago and for the longest time I never lost it, misplaced it yes, but always found it. One day, on my way to the bus my purse went upside down in the car and partially out into the snow! I thought I’d lost my beloved pen forever and couldn’t find it anywhere. So for Christmas I was given a replacement. A couple weeks later I was looking in the car for something else and found my original pen! I was delighted as I now have 2 of these beautiful pens!

They are heavy enough that they glide over the paper but don’t make your hand hurt like most heavier pens. Having it in my purse adds a little weight and so I know it’s always there! They are a delight to write with and frequently I bring out my pen specifically for meetings at work which causes discussions n good writing tools.

I ride the Valley Mover, a local bus system in Alaska and whenever someone needs a pen I’m quick to bring out my beautiful pen for loan. More than a few times the hour drive is spent talking about how wonderful the pen is and how well it writes along with where it was purchased!

We’ve also purchased several more pens and the accompanying letter openers and magnifying glass to give as gifts.

No, I get nothing but the satisfaction that I have helped several people find a lovely pen and a small business in Louisiana, all the way from Alaska!

Look SQUIRREL!

I’ve learned that being the Division Squirrel is a VERY good thing! I mildly over order on some supplies and recycle the heck out of others and am proud to say that it comes in very handy quite a bit of the time! The page dividers that have been recycled out of my packets are currently being re-purposed by our admin group! The gobs of binder clips and paper clips are constantly cycled through people’s offices and used over and over again! If I know I have something I won’t order new just to make life easy… I’ll hunt through my stash for it! Oh yeah and I even have some squirrels in my office to keep me company! (stuffed of course… can’t have them chewing up the files!)
